What a few weeks we’ve had. This last fortnight our players have engaged with our ‘Keep Learning’ mental health awareness theme. We took the emphasis off learning ‘things’ and learnt how to care & mind ourselves. We used the skills we learned about grounding, staying calm & regulating our stress in the ‘Take Notice’ theme and reapplied them, deepening our learning of coping techniques. This culminated in our players receiving ‘learn to look after yourself goodie bags’.

We hooked up with Lidl, Bomar aromatherapy, & Nikafit who provided the goodies. Lidl provided lots of self care products & healthy snacks. Bomar kindly gave us crystals which reflected our recent mental health themes. Nikafit supplied a number of resistance bands for our older players. One of our mums & one good club committee members LuLu made gorgeous club coloured cupcakes which went down a treat. The goodie bag was really received by the players and the feedback from parents was wonderful. During a socially distant pick up slot (as per government guidelines)the girls managed to re-connect and it was a lovely ice breaker before their return to play next week. Well done girls we are nearly there and thanks again to all who contributed! 💚💛

A special thanks has to go to all parents, coaches & club officers who have been actively learning over the last few months through LGFA webinars from Nutrition to GDPR to G4T to Safeguarding. They’ve been upskilling in the background to ensure they too are ready for the ‘return to play’. You can nearly smell the cut grass & hear the noise of the girls back on the pitch. Roll on Monday 26th of April. Thanks everyone!
